Dragon Timeline

When each dragon first appears in the written or archaeological record.

This timeline orders the dragons in the encyclopedia by their earliest known source. Many legends are older than their first written record, so these dates show when a dragon enters the surviving record, not when people began telling its story. Dates before about 500 BCE are approximate.
