Welcome to Draconika. This online community is for dragon lovers to have a place to talk and learn. There are many discussion boards here, so you will more than likely find topics that you can talk about. Please note that this is NOT an Otherkin forum, though we do have otherkin boards for those members who are. As such you may not find the level of interaction on otherkin topics suits your needs. Please weigh up carefully whether you still wish to be part of this community.

The forum is for those who have a belief or strong interest in dragons. This forums primary purpose is discussion, however we have strong Games and Roleplaying boards.

As with any good forum, we do have a number of rules that we would like to be observed.

1. The Administrators and Moderators (Hereafter referred to as 'Staff')have final authority at all times. Their decisions are final. This is to ensure order and structure to the forum

2. Be respectful to other members of this forum. Being a diverse community, there are many members here, all with greatly differing views on many different levels of discussion. It is expected that some may find their personal beliefs at odds with those of others. To prevent strife between members:
a. Do not harass, insult, or personally attack other members. If you have a problem with another member, or if another member attacks you, tell a moderator or admin. They will deal with it privately. If you feel yourself getting heated over something, step back and calm down before posting.
b. There will be no "species bashing". If you want to rant about how much you hate humans, dragons, elves, goldfish, or so on, do so in another place.
c. Religion and political discussions are allowed within limits. Due to the potentially volatile nature of these subjects, all participants must keep a clear head and open mind, even if personal beliefs are being contradicted. Your views are no more valid than those of others.
d. Otherkin are welcome, but bear in mind that this is not a dedicated otherkin forum, and thus may not provide the level of interaction you need.

3. This entire forum is rated PG-13. No pornography or excessive violence (this includes the RP sections) will be allowed. In addition, the forum uses language filters to prevent the excessive use of crude language. Words that are ?starred out? are not allowed to be used. Circumventing the language filters using clever letter combination's doesn't make it okay. Excessive use of any tolerated swears is not acceptable. Regardless of what you may have seen or heard in PG-13 movies, the above rules are final at the discretion of the staff.

4. Do not post the contents of Private Messages or IM/Chat logs. The only exception to this rule is if all parties involved are current members of the forum and have given express permission for the chat to be made public.
a. Do not release any private information that is not your own. Any names, contact information, etc. can only be released by the person in question. This rule has no exceptions.

5. Watch your grammar! Use proper sentance structures and spelling. Spell checks are available online so there is no excuse for poor spelling. We have many members from all over the world, some whose first language is not English so keep your posts clear. Please refrain from using "net speak" on the forums. The occasional "lol" or "btw" is permitted. Using text message shorthand (brb soon k? ttyl!) or otherwise butchering language is not.

6. Do not make empty posts. Single word posts or simple phrases (one liners)are unacceptable. If you agree with a poster, say why you agree. If you don?t like a certain viewpoint, say why you disagree. Posts with no substance ("yes" or "I disagree" and nothing else) will be treated as spam. The only exception is the game threads in Games Forum and Art Forum. Please refrain from posts like "who's online", "why is nobody talking to me", "let's chat", etc. There are places such as the pm system for chatting. The forum is not one of them.

7. Do not post more than once in a row. If you need to change something, use the edit button. There are only two exceptions to this rule. 1) If your post exceeds the character limit then you may double post, 2) You may double post in the Art thread if you have multiple drawings, chapters of a story etc...

8. This is not a free advertising forum. Do not join this forum simply to advertise your favorite websites. If you are an established member (i.e. 50+ posts), you may post a link to your website. If it is another dragon forum, we ask that you provide a link to here from that site. This will be checked and enforced by the Staff.

9. Please do not post debates about the rules or how the forum is run. If you have a problem with this board or the management, please PM it to one of the Staff. This is a forum about dragons, not a forum about the forum. If you can't follow these rules, you should look elsewhere. If you think a post is going to break any of the above rules, either send it to a moderator or admin for evaluation, or do not post it at all. These rules are simple and straightforward enough that you should know if you are breaking them or not.

10. Do not give other people access to your account to post their views on this forum, and do not pretend to be someone else e.g. the author of a book. In this day and age it is impossible to tell whether the situation is real, or we are being trolled. Good faith only goes so far. If a person wishes to post on the forum please ask them to join.

11. Do not create multiple accounts. This is called Sock-puppeting and is the basis of an immediate and possibly permanent ban on one or all of the accounts involved. A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception within an online community and will not be tolerated here. The staff can, and will track IP addresses of those suspected of creating multiple accounts.


This is by no means a comprehensive list. Should a moderator or admin tell you to stop doing something, you are expected to respectfully comply. If you cannot abide by these rules, you may leave the forum. Deliberately breaking these rules will result in a warning from a mod or admin, followed by more severe consequences, culminating in a permanent ban from the forum. Again, the rules are simple enough that breaking them will be obvious.


Image Posting Guidelines:

When posting pictures and graphics to the forum, please refrain from "hotlinking" images from other websites unless you a) own the website you are hotlinking from; or b) are using a public image hosting site such as Photobucket. If you wish to share a photo or graphic from another website, it is best to post the direct link to where the image resides. If you wish to post the image itself, download the image to your computer and then post it to a Photobucket or similar account before posting directly to the forum.

Why is this important? Many websites have strict rules against hotlinking and have the capacity to "backtrack" an illegally hotlinked image to the site in violation. Compalints filed by the site owner to the hosting company of this forum can potentially cause serious problems for the forum and it's owner. Enough complaints could result in the forum being closed down by the hosting company for TOS violation if not copyright infringement under the rules of the DMCA

When posting pictures and graphics to the forum please refrain from posting more than 2 images in any single reply in defrence to those forum members still using slower dial-up connection. If you have more than two graphics you would like to share, post clickable text links instead. This will allow all members to easily view those pictures you are wanting to share.

Also, when posting images and graphics directly to the forum, please keep the images resonably small. Any graphic posted should be no larger than 800 pixels on it's longest side and should be no larger than 100Kb at the absolute max. Ideal file sizes are between 25Kb-50Kb. Any graphic larger than 100Kb should be a text link only.
