Well, I was thinking more on the lines that a stuborn man refusing to leave a sinking ship would be a bad thing, but an inventor that doesn't give up, till they figure it out, would be a good thing.

Well that's true...but the first example I don't see as stubbornness. I see it as either stupidity (if he just plain won't leave) or honour (if he has a good reason for staying and is intent on sticking to it, no matter what the outcome).

Well theres a fine line between stubborness and stupidity. But I guess everyone has there personal reasons for doing things, often that we don't understand, because we don't have there though processes.

Exactly my thoughts (woo...you just said something about people not having the same thought processes, which is within my thought process exactly...) And yes, someone may do something that we find stupid, because they know that they have good reason for doing such a thing.
