Post What I Dream Of - My Ambition

As some of you on here may no, I am a writer, and I've posted many poems, and have posted the preface to my fantasy book. However, I'm now re-writing my fantasy book for a fifth time, and the preface is write differently. But that's not the point of this post. I'd like to talk to you guys about my big ambition/dream. I dream of getting out into the world with my writing in a big way. (Example) My biggest writing inspiration is Christopher Paolini. (Writer of Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, Inheritance) I dream of getting out there as big as him. I have told a handful of friends about this dream, and they believe in me. I even shared some of my work to an author who had her book published. She believes I have what it takes. However, I need to believe in myself rather than listen to what others say. I believe I am on the right path. I'm listening to my heart, and I'm letting this story come out with it, along with all my other writings. I know that if I work hard, believe in myself and what I love, I'll get there. I picture myself living it the rest of my life, and feeling fulfilled because of that. I'm happy to see how many have supported my voice so far when I haven't even put anything out yet, and I'm excited to see what's to come with the passion and ambition I have. I'm willing to work hard to make it happen because it's what I love doing.

You keep writing man. Believe in your self and nothing is impossible... (Except for breathing in space without a space suit on...) in any case... Do what you love to do.

Wish I was a good writer... I have confidence it's just that... When i look at my own work sometimes it looks like garbage that should be thrown into the city dump... It sometimes does not show, feel, sound, or even read the way I want it to.

I know that I'm not the only one that has this kind of a problem but no matter I make do but I have gotten high cred for a fan fiction story that I wrote that was a crossover of two COMPLETELY different games (Futuristic: Metroid, and Middle ages: Zelda)

The high cred that I got was in a review from an anonymous reviewer
Quote:
Anonymous reviewer: Anthony1l
9/24/11 . chapter 39 of A Blast in the Past, a Metroid/Zelda crossover.
"This story is hilarious, interesting, original, touching, and unique."
I have confidence in my skill it's just that I can't seem to get my ideas out on the computer screen the way I want.

I think if you have support, skills, a dream, and the motivation then you can do just about anything (As Guardian was saying)

You'll obviously need time and monetary support to enable you to write a book so once you get those things sorted you'll be on the way.

A bit of advice, I take it you wish to make money from this? It is to be your 'business' so to speak yes? If so then you need a P L A N. Plan how things are done, when, where, how, and why and you'll find things easier.

"Those who fail to plan, plan to fail" (One of the greats of the last century Winston Churchill)

Thanks guys for your advice and encouragement. I do have a plan on what to do and all for my writing. I'm going to be publishing the books myself on a website called Lulu.com. The site gives you 80% of the revenue, lets you design the book yourself, you get global distribution, get your book sold on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and its free to publish. I won't have to worry about publishing houses stealing my idea and all that crap. I'll also be sponsoring the book myself, and I have two author friends who can spread the word along with friends, family, and friends. I'll be working hard for it because I really want to go big out there with it, and I am confident with myself and my work.
